This year, I’ve gotten into the habit of writing down what people have said to me – words that lit up the dark places I’ve been in. Their words (while they think mundane) are more spectacular than anything I’ve ever written. This is for the best of the best;
“Are you okay? No, you’re not. Talk to me.”
“You’re not weak. You’re just surrounded by people who don’t understand. I’ve been there. It takes time and effort.”
“It’s okay, you’ll pull through.”
“You did your best, don’t care about others’ criticism. There will always be people who don’t appreciate what you’ve done, just focus on the ones who do care.”
“I’ll be here if you need someone to talk to.”
“Protect yourself. Please. Don’t let others use you.”
“I don’t care what you say, you’re gonna do even better than you think.”
“Supper?”
“All the best in your exam later. I’ve taken away all your bad luck by not being able to find my jeans.”
“Hey, no worries.”
“It’s okay. If you’re tired, go to sleep. There’s always tomorrow.”
“Happy birthday! Hope everything is going well for you.” (and to my delight, all the way from the US)
“Nah, you can do it. You’re THE Allison!”
“Get that 100%.”
“Here’s something to make your day perhaps brighter a little.” + a cat video
“Study hard, little one. All the best.”
“You did your best. If that isn’t enough for them, just make sure it’s enough for you.”
“No matter the outcome, let me know if you need anything.”
“There can never be enough rest for a potato.”
